"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8: 28).
Melam Foundation has completed 32 years of its service. In the last three decades, we were able to provide treatment to over 1 lakh 56 thousand poor patients through a strong network of over 987 hospitals and 1463 doctors. As we enter the 33rd year, a plethora of activities are planned.
This year, my book - 'Zero to Zenith: When Business meets Humanitarianism', published by Penguin Random House was released. It is a start-up story of how Melam was founded with the aim of providing free medical treatment to poor patients. It also describes the theory of bootstrapping, that is, how a successful business was commenced with zero/ limited resources.
Other than offering medical assistance to the poor patients, Melam Foundation also wishes to create awareness in the society about mental health. In all level, be it at the grass root level, or at the administrative level, there is a dearth of awareness. Faulty/negative thinking is one of the main reasons for conflicts, and struggles. Once the attitude is set right, 90% of the problem is resolved. More awareness programs need to be organized at various levels for not only propagating the power of positive thinking but also the significance of "possibility thinking". It is the art of converting a problem or an obstacle into an opportunity. In short, impart training for innovative and original work and to think out of the box for possibilities and solutions.
Sadly, one of the evils hindering India's growth is corruption. It starts from the traffic police to the high-up ministers. I would like to train a team from Melam to stand against corruption. Wherever, anyone is not given justice, they can contact the Melam team who would convene into the matter for on the spot resolution.
To eradicate corruption from the grass root level honesty must be habituated. For this, at all levels of the society, honesty should be rewarded and recognized through various forms of appreciation. To inculcate the habit of honesty, Melam would also like to be actively involved in recognizing honest people who stay strong on their principles irrespective of the circumstances. This will not only bring peace but also transparency and prosperity to our country.
I would like to thank all my supporters for their well wishes and prayers. For any query, please do get in touch with us.
