Melam Foundation's core focus area is health. All the other focus areas revolve around the Foundation's mission of creating a healthier society for a better world order and peaceful co-existence. The Foundation's association with around 1000 hospitals in Kerala has augmented in providing free medical treatment to over 1,56,000 patients. The Foundation primarily focuses on AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, Liver Disorders, Renal Malfunctioning, Psychological and Neurological Disorders. The patients who approach are given free treatment to the hospitals of their choice. The hospital deals directly with the foundation for settling the invoice within a credit period of 30 days.
CancerAwareness Programs were conducted in over 500 Schools and Colleges in Kerala. The strategic partners for the program were Deepika Daily and Sargakshetra Social and Cultural Centre. There were awareness programs on lifestyle changes to be adopted to prevent cancer and many students volunteered to donate their hair for the cancer patients undergoing therapy.
Kurian John Melamparambil, founder of Melam Foundation has been propagating the importance of habituating honesty in every forum. Melam Foundation plans to institute 'Honesty Award' in Educational Institutions, Municipal Corporations etc. to promote and encourage 'Honesty'.
For the last 16 years, the Foundation has provided free mid-day meal to more than 300 in patients at the Government Hospital, Thiruvalla daily. Over 15 lakhs inpatients have been given free meals already. We have partnered with the Indian Red Cross Society, Thiruvalla for the meal preparation and distribution.
Apart from free medical assistance to patients, we also provide financial aid for housing. Our team visits and analyses the present housing conditions and support is extended to the deserving patients accordingly.
Scholarships are instituted for pursuing Higher Studies after Class 12 to the deserving patients or their dependents. The Foundation tries to provide 360-degree support to the patients.
